Mid-morning 🚗 
Head out on site visits across Nottingham. This could involve inspecting developments, gathering evidence, and speaking directly with residents or developers. 

Afternoon 💻 
Back in the office (or working remotely), you’ll document findings, assess planning breaches, and decide next steps — often working closely with colleagues across planning and legal teams. 

Late afternoon 🤝 
You may follow up with developers or property owners to resolve issues through negotiation, aiming for positive outcomes wherever possible.

Day in the Life: Building Control Surveyor 🏗️ 

“You see a project through from plans to completion.” 

Morning 📐 
Review building plans to ensure they meet safety and regulatory standards. This includes checking structure, fire safety, and accessibility. 

Midday 🚧 
Carry out site inspections — visiting construction projects to make sure work complies with approved plans and building regulations. 

Afternoon 📊 
Write reports, update records, and provide guidance to developers, contractors and homeowners to help them meet requirements. 

End of day 🤝 
Collaborate with colleagues, sharing expertise and resolving technical challenges across projects.
