Steps on the journey for children with SEND

Cambridgeshire County Council has developed a starting reception resource specifically for children with SEND. This resource is designed to complement the Starting Reception resources for children who need some additional help. This document, or individual pages, can be used to support children in their preschool year when a child needs a little more support in a particular area. Many children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) will take a little longer and need more support to develop so these individual pages can be used when it is appropriate, to support children as and when they are ready. It has be designed to be used by parents, carers, and early years practitioners and additional links have been included to provide a bit more information where this might be needed. The pages can be used by used by parents, the key person or special educational needs and disabilities co-ordinator (SENCo). They may be useful to support SENCo’s to identify Individual Child Plan (ICP) targets and provision when considered alongside the needs, interests, and wider context of the child.
