SENCO Network

We are delighted to be able to continue to run our SENCO Networks. These Networks will keep Nottingham City SENCO’s based in Day Nurseries, Pre-Schools and Schools who provide 2 year provision up to date on current SEND developments as well as providing invaluable networking opportunities. Nottingham City Childminders who support children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities are also welcome to attend. 

All networks are led by the Early Years Team SEND Support Workers and will also feature Guest Speakers. There will be a prize draw at every Network Session (winners to be notified after course evaluations have been returned). 

We are pleased to welcome back colleagues from Healthy Little Minds to our November SENCO Network.

The theme for this network will be trauma, with the session designed to support delegates to develop a foundational understanding of relational trauma within the parent-infant relationship and the ways it can impact infant development. We will explore what we mean by relational trauma, why it is important to understand, and how practitioners can support both families experiencing these difficulties and the professionals working with them.

The training aims to equip practitioners with a clearer understanding of:

• What we mean by relational trauma and its impact on infant development
• The concept of ‘good enough parenting’
• Why it is vital to consider the parent’s story
• The baby’s experience
• Therapeutic approaches for supporting parent-infant dyads affected by relational trauma
• How this work can affect us as professionals, and ways to support our own wellbeing when working with trauma
