Nottingham City Council is consulting on future options for its Council Tax Support scheme which helps households on low incomes with their Council Tax bill. 

A Blue Badge does not provide any exemption for parking in a bus stop

You are liable for the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

If you pay your PCN within 14 days of the date of your ticket, you pay the lower amount shown on your ticket. If you pay after 14 days, you pay double that amount. A PCN (not a Notice to Owner) that has been served through the post has a discount period of 21 days.

Pay online

You are not allowed to load or unload in a bus stop and you should have sought an alternative place to load or unload your vehicle where the restrictions allow you to do so.

You will need to provide a formal letter from a health professional that treated you or a passenger directly after the event.

Appeal your PCN

Alternatively, if you pay your PCN within 14 days of the date of your ticket, you pay the lower amount shown on your ticket. If you pay after 14 days, you pay double that amount. A PCN (not a Notice to Owner) that has been served through the post has a discount period of 21 days.

Pay online

We may consider your challenge if both Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) were:

  • issued on the same day
  • issued on the same street
  • issued under the same contravention.

You will need to provide:

  • Your vehicle registration
  • The NG reference number printed on both Penalties

Please be aware that you are not guaranteed to have your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) cancelled as each case is reviewed individually.

Appeal your PCN

Alternatively, if you pay your PCN within 14 days of the date of your ticket, you pay the lower amount shown on your ticket. If you pay after 14 days, you pay double that amount. A PCN (not a Notice to Owner) that has been served through the post has a discount period of 21 days.

If you believe that you have a valid hackney carriage licence and are therefore allowed to operate in bus stops, we may consider your challenge. 

You will need to provide proof that your vehicle is classed as hackney licensed vehicle. We require the following evidence:

  • a copy of your valid hackney carriage licence
  • a log book.

Please be aware that you are not guaranteed to have your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) cancelled as each case is reviewed individually.

Alternatively, if you pay your PCN within 14 days of the date of your ticket, you pay the lower amount shown on your ticket. If you pay after 14 days, you pay double that amount. A PCN (not a Notice to Owner) that has been served through the post has a discount period of 21 days.

Pay online

If your vehicle is a private hire vehicle, you are liable for the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) as there is no exemption for private hire vehicles to travel in a bus stop.

If you are a Nottingham City Council (NCC) licensed hackney carriage, we may consider your challenge. You will need to provide:

  • a copy of your valid NCC hackney carriage licence.

Please be aware that you are not guaranteed to have your PCN cancelled as each case is reviewed individually.

If you think that your vehicle has been cloned, you must report this to the police as soon as possible.

We may consider your challenge.

You will need to provide us with evidence that it was not you or your vehicle that was present when the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) was issued:

  • A colour photo showing the make and model of the vehicle
  • A colour photo showing the vehicle registration number of the vehicle
  • A police crime reference number related to the cloning of your vehicle.
