We have no scheduled elections in May 2026 |

There are no elections taking place in Nottingham City in May 2026. Our local elections follow a fixed four-year cycle, and that means there are no scheduled polls this year.  Please see our Upcoming elections page for more information.

There are two types of Blue Badge eligibility.

Whether you are eligible automatically or need further assessment, you must still apply for a Blue Badge.

You may be eligible in one of two ways

Type 1 – Eligible without further assessment

You will automatically qualify for a Blue Badge if you meet any of the following criteria.

You:

  • Receive the Higher Rate of the Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMCDLA)
  • Receive 8 points or more under the “Moving Around” activity of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Score 10 points under Activity 11, descriptor E of “Planning and following a journey” on PIP, which means
“you cannot undertake any journeys because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress”
  • Are registered blind (severely sight impaired)
  • Receive a War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement
  • Have been awarded a lump sum benefit at tariff 1–8 of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and have been certified as having a permanent and substantial disability that causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking

If you meet one of these criteria, you will not need a mobility assessment, but you must still provide evidence as part of your application.

Type 2 – Eligible subject to further assessment

You may be eligible for a Blue Badge if you do not automatically qualify but have an enduring and substantial disability. In these cases, you may be asked to attend an independent mobility assessment.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Have a long‑term disability that causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking, including very considerable psychological distress
  • Drive a vehicle regularly, have a severe disability in both arms, and have considerable difficulty operating parking meters
  • Are under the age of 3 and must be accompanied everywhere by bulky medical equipment
  • Are at risk of serious harm, or pose a risk of serious harm to another person, when walking
  • Are an organisation caring for disabled people who meet the eligibility criteria
(applications from organisations are considered at our discretion)

If you are not sure which type of eligibility applies to you, you can still apply. Your application will be reviewed and, if needed, we will contact you for further information or assessment.
