Day services provide opportunities to meet others in a supportive environment, enabling you to enjoy your independence and get involved in a range of group or community activities. The service caters to different needs and can adapt activities to suit your interest and ability. Many people attend every day, taking advantage of the wide variety of activities across multiple sites. Others attend once or twice a week for specific interests or to meet with friends.


Day Centres Offering

Most Day centres offer a wide variety of activities, don't hesitate to get in touch with the centre for a detailed list; most offer.

  • Days Out including - Eating out, Boat trips, Shopping, Swimming, Bowling, and Places of interest.
  • Social events and Activities, including - Singalongs, Music, Board and Card games, Quizzes, Workshops, Cookery, Flower arranging, Arts and crafts, Storytelling, Puzzles, Dancing, Snooker, Exercises and Chair-based exercise
  • Outdoor Games/Activities, including - Sports, Bowling, Games, Gardening 
  • Talks and Discussion Sessions - Speakers are invited to hold talks on topics of interest which help to support people's health and well-being.
  • Kitchen and coffee bar.
  • Sensory room, which can provide massage, aromatherapy or therapeutic exercises.
  • Dementia Activities -  Includes an Alzheimer's group, reminiscence and memory work, and activities designed to stimulate and encourage them.

At all our centres, you can benefit from 

  • Meals: You can have meals with us at the centre. We cater for a range of dietary needs. There is a charge for meals.
  • Personal care: We provide personal care to those who require it in a dignified and respectful manner. All our staff are fully trained in this area of care.
  • Person-centred cares - We try to accommodate individual requests made by citizens, for example, suggestions made regarding activities they would like to participate in.

About the Centre

The Acorn Resource Centre in Hyson Green provides day services for people with physical and sensory impairments. The centre is part of the Mary Potter Centre on Gregory Boulevard.

During your first few weeks at the Acorn Resource Centre, we will work closely with you to assess your needs. We aim to support you to work towards your goals and to help you have as much independence as possible.

We will also maintain close links with your carers, and give support and advice where needed.

We provide an activity-based service with links to other agencies. We can put you in touch with other organisations that can help you. You are assigned a Keyworker, who will ensure that you get the most out of your attendance at the Acorn Resource Centre. If you have any problems or issues, please speak to your Keyworker.

  • Specialist dementia support

We aim to support you to work towards your goals and to help you have as much independence as possible. We will also maintain close links with your carers, and give support and advice where needed.

We provide an activity-based service with links to other agencies. We can put you in touch with other organisations that can help you.

You are assigned a Key worker, who will ensure that you get the most out of your attendance at Albany House Day Service. If you have any problems or issues, please speak to your Key worker.

The Martin Jackaman Centre, in Aspley, provides specialist care for citizens with physical, sensory and learning disabilities to help them lead healthy, active and independent lives.

Upon admission to the service, citizens will be assessed to ensure that all of their individual needs are met throughout the day. We will maintain close links with carers to give full support and advice where needed. We provide an activity based service with links to other agencies. We are able to put you in touch with other organisations that can help you. You are assigned a Keyworker, who will ensure that you get the most out of your attendance at The Martin Jackaman Centre. If you have any problems or issues please speak to your assigned Keyworker or a member of the management team.

About The Centre

The Willows Day Centre, in Beechdale, provides facilities and support to people aged over 50 years from various backgrounds. During your first few weeks at The Willows Day Service, we will work closely with you to assess your needs.

Our aim is to support you to work towards your goals and to help you have as much independence as possible. We will also maintain close links with your carers, and give support and advice where needed.

We provide an activity-based service with links to other agencies. We are able to put you in touch with other organisations that can help you. You are assigned a Key worker who will help to settle you into the unit and ensure you get the most out of your attendance at The Willows Day Service.
