About Greener Housing Funding
Low-income homeowners in Nottingham can apply to have a range of insulation measures and solar panels fitted to their properties free of charge, in a bid to reduce energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.
The £5.61M Government funding, secured by Nottingham City Council, follows on from the previous Green Homes Grant funding. It aims to help reduce fuel poverty, phase out high carbon fossil fuel heating and support the UK's commitment to become net zero by 2050, alongside Nottingham’s ambitions to become the UK’s first Carbon Neutral City by 2028 (CN28).
Funding and Projects
The funding is now open for applications and comes as energy prices are rising steeply and as concerns increase about the need for greener ways to heat and power homes.
We will be using the funding to deliver two workstreams:
- Insulation Measures and Solar PV Systems: Funding is available for insulation measures to 511 homes, with 220 of these receiving new solar panels.
- Solid Wall Insulation and Heat Pumps: this is aimed at off-gas properties and will focus on solid wall insulation to 20 homes, with 10 of these also receiving low carbon heat pumps.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scheme:
- Homes must be in the City of Nottingham
- Have a low energy performance (EPC rating of E, F and G).
- A limited number of D rated homes will be also eligible.
- The household income must be less than £30,000 a year.
