The Home Energy Conservation Act 1995 (HECA) 2023 report

The Home Energy Conservation Act 1995 (HECA) requires local authorities to report on their plans to promote energy efficiency improvements locally. Digital responses are submitted to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and you can read our summary report for the period 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2023 here.

We are working with residents across Nottingham on a range of schemes to improve the energy efficiency of their homes, creating healthy, comfortable places for people to live in the city. This work is helping residents save money on energy bills, reduce their carbon footprint, and improve their health outcomes.

Over the reporting period through Nottingham City Council’s Greener HousiNG schemes we have utilised over £30 million of grants and investment for residential energy efficiency. Improvements have been made to both socially and privately owned homes including insulation, solar panels, and air source heat pumps.

This work supports both Nottingham's ambition to be carbon neutral by 2028 and the UK's commitment to become net zero by 2025.
