Booking a Ceremony

When the Home Office sends your naturalisation certificate to us, we will email you using the email address you provided and include a link for you to book on to a ceremony.

If your email address or contact details have changed since you made your application for British Citizenship or your application was made via an immigration advisor or solicitor, please email office.register@nottinghamcity.gov.uk to advise us of your home address, email address and telephone number.

Group Ceremony

Group ceremonies are held in one of the civic reception rooms at the Council House. Ceremonies are held on fixed dates and times and you may bring 2 guests.

Group ceremonies last approximately thirty minutes and you will be asked to repeat the required Oath or Affirmation. There is no fee for a group ceremony because your naturalisation application fee covers this cost. Please make sure that you bring your home office decision letter or email and a form of photo identification to your ceremony.

Private Ceremony

If you would prefer to be seen privately, we may be able to arrange a private ceremony at a date and time to suit your schedule (weekdays 9am to 4pm). Your ceremony will be informal and will take place in an office at the Council House. You may bring up to four friends or family members, if you wish. Your ceremony will last approximately twenty minutes.

The fee for a private ceremony is £130.00 per adult. There is no fee for children under 18 years. You will be required to pay this fee in advance over the telephone using your credit or debit card.

You will need to bring your Home Office decision letter or email and a form of photo identification to your ceremony.
