Submit a Commencement Notification
The Notice of Commencement is a stage where Building Control must be notified, known as the deemed commenced stage.
You must do this within 5 days after the work has commenced and when work reaches one of these stages:
- Complex Buildings: The foundations are built, and the lowest floor structure is complete.
- New Buildings and Extensions: The underground structure, including all foundations and the ground floor, is finished.
- Other Works: At least 15% of the entire project is done.

Submit a Completion Notification
You must complete and submit a notice of completion if you are the owner, designer or contractor carrying out building work after an application for Building Control is given.
You must do this within 5 days of completing the work.
The notice of completion is a declaration that the building works are complete and comply with all the applicable requirements of the building regulations.
