Name of Organisation: Nottingham Growing Network

Short Description of Organisation

Nottingham Growing Network is a long-standing initiative that builds links between 25 community food growing groups in Nottingham, with a focus on healthy eating, wellbeing, sustainable gardening and biodiversity, offering support, guidance, and advocacy..

Our Community Gardens teach people how to grow food and cook with fresh ingredients, making affordable meals accessible for everyone. Food grown is shared with volunteers and local food banks, used in our social eating projects, and offered to the wider community for small donations.

7 of our Community Gardens deliver weekly social eating projects, where food is harvested, cooked and shared with the community. Beneficiaries are primarily families with young children living in poverty, older people living alone and people with complex mental health issues and learning difficulties.

Summary of planned improvemments

UKSPF – Venues and Places funding will enable 6 of our community gardens to invest in their outdoor social eating projects, providing more seating, shelter and cooking equiptment (including the building of 5 new traditional clay ovens!), increasing the number of visitors, volunteers and the number of meals cooked.
