Short Description of Organisation 

Hyson Green Youth Club (HGYC) is a community-focused charity based in Nottingham, established in 1939. We have grown from a traditional youth club into a community hub, particularly serving Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.

Our vision is to provide continuity for young people through key transitions in their lives, developing and inspiring them through enjoyable activities — education, leisure, and sport — to reach their full potential.

 We deliver a range of engagement programmes for young people and adults which include:

Youth Programmes

• Open Access Youth Club (ages 13-19)
• After-School Club (ages 5-11) for unemployed and low-income families
• School Holiday Playschemes (ages 5-11yrs) We also provide facilities for Sports & Recreation, Educational & Cultural Activities and Community Services
• Room Hire – Available for conferences, private parties, celebrations, and cultural events.

Summary of planned improvements 

We plan the following improvements:

1. Replace front door to meet DDA standards, reduce energy consumption ,improve safeguarding and security. The existing wooden front door is old and locks manually. The door will be installed to BSEN 16005 regulations

2. Repair and decorate a social room for use by refugee group - this room can be accessed without entering the youth club. The space is suitable for single gender groups and celebrations such as Ramadan and Eid

3. Repair toilet cubicles to improve accessibility for users; facilitate religious requirement of those of the Muslim faith

4. Repair toilet urinals, sinks and taps to improve hygiene and comfort of users; facilitate religious requirements of those of the Muslim faith Improved access, security and toilet facilities for children, young people and adults aged 5yrs upward
