About our Organisation
Sugar Stealers are a team of 4 women with combined experience in arts, entertainment, wellbeing and community projects. The organisation started in 2019 with the purpose of breaking down barriers that affect deprived communities in order to encourage healing and social progression.
We have since built a safe space where all women & gender expansive people come to explore positive wellbeing and creative practice. Our mission is to reduce social isolation, support mental health, and create access to free cultural and creative programming that reflects our diverse cohort. Our programme include dance, yoga, paddle boarding, art, music and poetry.
Summary of events and activities to be delivered
Our project, "Get A Wiggle On", is a vibrant, intergenerational dance, wellbeing and social inclusion project. Through a series of creative
dance workshops and themed social events, we invite women and gender expansive people (18+) from deprived communities across Nottingham to journey through 8 decades of global dance styles — from the Charleston and Swing to Disco, Salsa and Breakdance.
The sessions will be taught in accessible 4-week blocks. Each block ends with a celebratory event featuring music, dance, food and décor reflecting that era.
The programme will run weekly from August 2025 – February 2026, and all the sessions will be delivered at Fisher Gate Point in Nottingham City. The weekly dance sessions will be led by professional dance tutors - one of whom is Molly May Gardiner - a globally sought after Musical Theatre performer.
