About our Organisation

Broadway is a nationally recognised cultural cinema and creative hub located in Nottingham’s Hockley area. We screen a diverse programme of independent, international, and mainstream film alongside talks, festivals, and community-led events. Each year we welcome over 160,000 visitors and collaborate with a wide range of grassroots and cultural organisations.

We are committed to inclusion and audience development, supporting diverse communities through partnerships, accessible programming, and a growing volunteer initiative. Broadway has over 35 years’ experience delivering high-quality, meaningful engagement in the arts.

Summary of events and activities to be delivered

To celebrate Broadway’s 35th anniversary, we will deliver a free community cinema day on Saturday 30 August 2025, offering three free screenings at Broadway Cinema. Films will be selected by public vote, drawn from a shortlist themed around inclusion, environmental themes, and community. We will aim to distribute 450 free tickets, with a focus on engaging less culturally active communities. Any remaining tickets will be converted into family matinee vouchers distributed through schools in priority areas.

Alongside the screenings, Broadway will host talks and creative activity to celebrate its 35-year history. The day will also launch our new volunteer programme, with 10–15 community volunteers supporting delivery and outreach. Volunteers will continue to be involved in events across Broadway’s wider community programme.

As a legacy element, we will also support the commissioning of a new mural within Broadway’s Mezz Lounge through Artfest, with input from a community panel. This artwork will be a lasting celebration of Broadway’s history and diverse audiences and will help formally launch the Mezz as a dedicated community-use space.

Target audiences include families, first-time attenders, and underrepresented groups across Nottingham
