We are developing a new Children and Education Strategy for Nottingham.

This strategy will set out what we want to achieve for children, young people and families across the city, and how we will work together to improve outcomes over the next few years.

We want Nottingham to be a city where children and young people are safe, supported, listened to and able to thrive. To do that well, we need to understand what matters most to the people who live, learn, work and care in Nottingham.

Why we are asking for your views

We already hear from children, young people, families and professionals in lots of different ways through the work we do every day at Nottingham City Council.

This includes feedback from Children in Care panels, Young Futures Hubs, pupil surveys, Child Friendly Nottingham surveys, engagement with schools, conversations with families, and work with partners across the city.

That insight is important and will help shape the strategy.

This survey is slightly different. It is specifically about the new Children and Education Strategy. We want to ask a few short questions to help us understand what people think should be the biggest priorities for children, young people and families in Nottingham.

What we want to know

We would like to hear what you think about:

  • what is working well for children, young people and families in Nottingham

  • what could be better

  • what matters most for the future

  • what would make the biggest difference to children and young people’s lives

The survey is short and should only take a few minutes to complete.

Who we want to hear from

We want to hear from as many people as possible, including:

  • children and young people (aged 16 or over)

  • parents and carers

  • foster carers and kinship carers

  • people who work with children, young people and families

  • schools, education settings and partners

  • voluntary and community organisations

  • residents who care about the future of Nottingham’s children and young people

You do not need to be an expert to take part. We want to hear honest views, experiences and ideas from across the city.

How your feedback will be used

Your feedback will help us understand the key themes, priorities and areas for improvement that should be reflected in the Children and Education Strategy.

We will look at the responses alongside the insight we already have from children, young people, families, colleagues and partners.

Together, this will help us develop a strategy that reflects what people have told us matters most.

Take part

There are two short surveys available. Please choose the one that best describes you.

Children, young people, parents and carers

This survey is for:

  • children and young people (aged over 16)

  • parents and carers

  • foster carers

  • kinship carers

  • family members responding on behalf of, or with, a child or young person

Professionals and partners

This survey is for people who work with, support or represent children, young people and families in Nottingham, including:

  • Council colleagues

  • schools and education settings

  • health partners

  • voluntary and community organisations

  • other partner organisations

Both surveys are short and should only take a few minutes to complete.

Your voice will help shape the future of services and support for children, young people and families in Nottingham.
