Report a Stray Dog

We operate 7 days a week.

Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm.

Weekends and Bank holidays 9am to 4pm.

Any reports of a stray dog received outside of these hours will not be picked up until a dog warden returns to duty the following day, an out of hours reception point is available accessible be the above found lost or stray e-form.

Recovered Dogs

If a dog is picked up and it is wearing a collar or is microchipped with correct owner details, we will make every effort to return the dog to its owner, a Fixed Penalty Notice will normally be issued.

If the dog is picked up on more than one occasion or cannot be identified, it will be taken to our kennels.

"The owner will then have to pay a reclaim charge before the dog is returned to them -
1 Day - £63.50
2 Days - £77.00
3 Days - £90.50
4 Days - £124.00
5 Days - £137.50
6 Days - £151.00
7 Days - £164.50
The breakdown of the fees above are as follows - £25.00 stray fee, £25.00 warden pick up fee, £13.50 per day kennel boarding. Please note, there may be an additional charge if the dog is delivered to the kennels out of hours after service. The dog will also be vaccinated on day 4 at the kennels.
Also, if your dogs microchip is not up to date once at the kennels or your dog does not have a microchip, your dog will not be released to you until the microchip has been updated. This is charged at £15.00 as it is a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped."

If a dog is not collected by the owner within 7 days of being seized then Nottingham City will legally assume ownership of that dog. The majority of the strays that are left unclaimed are re-homed but in certain circumstances they do have to be put to sleep.

NB Cash payments and cheques are not accepted.
