Teaching and Learning Audit

This Teaching and Learning Quality Audit has been designed as an optional, complementary tool for childcare providers in the PVI sector and is designed to work alongside the Statutory Framework for the EYFS, Ofsted Guidance and legislation and also Birth to 5 Matters and/or Early Years Outcomes (non statutory guidance).

The Teaching and Learning Quality Audit is made up of 5 sections:

The Learning Environment
Planning
Interaction and Communication
Assessment
Leadership and Management

This Audit can be also used with the Welfare Requirement Tool Kit, specifically the Reflective Questions for Leaders and Managers.

If you are a new provision, this Audit will allow you to:

Audit the quality of the Teaching and Learning in your setting
Work with documents such as Birth to 5 Matters, Early Years Outcomes or any other child development documents
Plan a staff induction and training programme
Develop the staff supervision cycle
Implement an effective review and reflection cycle

If you are an established provision, this Audit will allow you to:

Review your provisions processes to support Teaching and Learning across your setting
Use sections of the Teaching and Learning Quality Audit for discussions within team and management meetings, to identify and develop training needs
Link to your settings staff supervision process
Identify areas of strength and areas for development within your review cycle
Identify areas to develop within your action plan and SEF
