A Local Plan sets out local planning policies and identifies how land is used, determining what will be built with a local authority area. Adopted local plans provide the framework for an area's development.

The Part 2 Local Plan known as the LAPP was submitted for Examination in April 2018 with hearing sessions taking place in November and December 2018. The Inspector has written to the Council to confirm the Examination can proceed to consultation on the Proposed Main Modifications which are considered to be required to make the Plan sound/and or legally compliant.
Main Modifications are proposed without prejudice to the Inspectors final conclusion on the Local Plan which will take account of all representations submitted in response to this consultation.
Consultation on these Proposed Main Modifications to the LAPP is taking place between Friday 17 May 2019 and 5pm on 28 June 2019.

Examination of the Local Plan Part 2
As part of the Local Plan Review the Submission Version of the Land and Planning Policies – Local Plan Part 2 (LAPP) and all supporting documents were submitted to the Government for examination on 23 April 2018. Beverley Doward BSc BTP MRTPI was appointed to conduct the examination. Consultation on Proposed Main Modifications to the LAPP is taking place between Friday 17 May 2019 and 5pm on 28 June 2019.
Draft Waterside Supplementary Planning Document
Consultation on a draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for the Waterside area of the city has now finished.
The Council will now consider the comments received and these will be taken into account in the final draft of the document. Copies of the comments received will be made available in due course.
Once the guidance is adopted by the Council, the SPD will be a material consideration in how planning applications for development at the Waterside are determined. Full details about the document can be viewed on the Waterside Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) page.
