Nottingham City Council work with lots of diverse communities and organisations across the city in order to recruit foster carers, including many different faith groups.

In 2018, the fostering team started working with Nottingham City Prayer, a group of leaders from churches in and around the city. The aim was for churches to spread the word about fostering among their congregations, and provide support for foster carers.

What has come out of this work is the 100 Homes campaign, which has seen the churches pledge to recruit 100 fostering households from within the Christian community.

The campaign was launched in May 2018 with 'Fostering Sunday', a day in which many churches put the focus on fostering, encouraging people to enquire about becoming foster carers or see how they can support carers.

This resulted in lots of people enquiring about fostering. Many households are now fostering children and supporting carers as a result.

Fostering Sunday in 2019 was on Sunday 12 May, and saw an even larger number of churches promoting fostering. This was followed up with an information event at Trent Vineyard in June 2019.
