The certificate will be posted to you after 5 working days. Postage costs are in addition as set out below.

Additional certificates are charged at the service price and are not £11 per additional certificate.

* In light of the current ongoing situation with COVID-19 we have been advised that Royal Mail are no longer able to guarantee delivery of special delivery items by 1pm on the following day. Nottingham City Council will not be held liable for any loss, damage or expense as a result of delays or failure to provide certificates arising from circumstances beyond the Council's reasonable control.

This includes any of the following acts of third parties:

• Postal or courier services
• Industrial action
• The incorrect postal address supplied by applicant

Family History Certificates (prior to 1920)

If you would like to request Family History certificates prior to 1920 and you have a GRO reference number from an Ancestry website please visit the General Register Office website to place your order. Alternatively you may apply to the Nottingham Register office on the link below and we will conduct a search- we cannot recognise the ancestry reference numbers therefore please provide, as a minimum, the names, location, year and quarter for the Birth, Death or Marriage. If we are unable to find the record after a search then the £11 fee will be retained but we will contact you to let you know our progress.
