This course combines an E-Learning module with a one-day face-to-face practical and assessment session.
This course is essential for practitioners working within the EYFS and covers the requirements of the EYFS Framework. The qualification is valid for 3 years. Places book up quickly - please plan well in advance.
Course Length: 6 hours of E-Learning and 6 hours of practical training

Fee per delegate: £75 for PVI Settings and Childminders and £99 for Schools, regardless of location.
Course Topics Include:
- Assessing an emergency situation: Prioritising actions.
- Unresponsive baby/child (breathing normally): Providing appropriate help.
- Unresponsive baby/child (not breathing normally): Administering CPR.
- Seizures: Managing a baby/child having a seizure.
- Choking: Assisting a choking baby/child.
- Bleeding: Controlling bleeding.
- Shock from severe blood loss: Treating hypovolemic shock.
- Anaphylactic shock: Treating severe allergic reactions.
- Electric shock: Responding to electric shock incidents.
- Burns and scalds: Providing first aid for burns and scalds.
- Fractures: Managing suspected fractures.
- Head, neck, or back injuries: Handling these injuries safely.
- Poisoning: Responding to suspected poisoning.
- Foreign bodies: Removing foreign objects from eyes, ears, or nose.
- Eye injuries: Treating eye injuries.
- Bites and stings: Providing first aid for bites and stings.
- Extreme temperatures: Helping a baby/child suffering from extreme heat or cold.
- Medical emergencies: Managing diabetic emergencies, asthma attacks, allergic reactions, meningitis, and febrile convulsions.
Accessing the E-Learning Module:
Please download Accessing Blended Paediatric First Aid. This will give you detailed instructions on how to create an online account on the Nottingham City Council Learning Zone, take you through how to access the E-Learning module, how to book your place on a practical session and also includes Frequently Asked Questions.
You can complete the E-Learning at your convenience, but it should ideally be finished before attending the practical and assessment session. On successful completion of the E-Learning, delegates will be able to download a theory certificate for their learning.
Practical and Assessment Training:
This full day of training is held at Loxley House or Central Library. Please ensure that you check location for the date you book.
On successful completion of this course delegates will be sent a certificate of attendance for the practical training. Both the theory certificate and the certificate of attendance for the practical training are needed to evidence your Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Important Information:
- Arrive on time to complete the required 6 hours of training. Trainers have the right to turn away latecomers.
- Breaks will be arranged by the trainers in agreement with delegates.
- Wear suitable clothing for practical work, including kneeling on the floor for CPR, recovery position, and other first aid assessments.
