Wraparound Briefing for Schools

National Wraparound Childcare Programme

The national wraparound childcare programme is part of the childcare reforms announced at the 2023 Spring Budget. The government’s ambition is that by 2026, all parents and carers of primary school-aged children, who need it will be able to access term time childcare in their local area from 8am-6pm.

The governments vision is for this programme to be school-centred, with provision delivered by a variety of childcare providers. Local authorities are responsible for ensuring there are sufficient wraparound childcare places in their area. We will work with schools, trusts, and PVI providers to do so, using government funding to set up new provision and expand existing provision, where needed.

We would like to engage with all primary schools at this stage of planning in order for you to support and influence the direction of travel. With this in mind, we would like to invite you to an initial schools briefing session.

More briefing dates to follow - please keep checking back! More information on the Wraparound Childcare Programme can be found here
