Here you can find out about all of our current projects and grants available to you to help reduce your carbon footprint.
Lower your bills with FREE solar
The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme aims to fit solar panels to around 655 properties in the city.
Low-income homeowners and private renters in Nottingham can apply to have solar panels fitted to their properties free of charge, in a bid to reduce energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.
Installing solar panels is expected to save around £240 a year in electricity costs per household and would equate to a carbon saving of 440 tonnes over 655 properties.
To be eligible for the scheme, the property must be in the City of Nottingham and have a low energy performance and the household income must be less than £30,000 a year. Anyone interested in applying or finding out more can contact email@example.com or call 0115 666 7298.
Grants to help your business reduce its carbon footprint
Nottingham City Council’s Accelerating Reduction in Carbon (ARC) project part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund will help small and medium sized businesses located in Greater Nottingham to decarbonise.
ARC gives grants to help businesses invest in measures such as LED lighting and heating upgrades, installation of energy efficient cooling systems, insulation and production of renewable energy that lead to cost and carbon savings.
To find out more about how we can help your business email the ARC project team at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 0115 876 4271
Get rewarded for taking action on climate change
How would you like to win prizes for helping reduce carbon emissions in Nottingham?
We’re committed to reduce our impact on the environment and we want to reward residents that help us achieve our goals. That’s why we’ve launched a brand new programme called ‘Green Rewards’ to recognize your positive actions.
Green Rewards is a joint programme with other Nottinghamshire councils and you’ll be able to earn ‘Green Points’ by reporting what sustainable actions you’re taking; whether that’s supporting wildlife, choosing a low carbon transport method or saving energy at home. We then award you with prizes!
All residents can sign up for free at notts.greenrewards.co.uk or by downloading the Green Rewards app on iOS and Android. Search for ‘Notts; Green Rewards’ in your device’s app store.
Electric taxi trial - try before you buy
Hackney cab drivers are able to trial new electric vehicles as part of Nottingham City Council’s ambitious plans to offer the cleanest, greenest fleet in the country.
Under the council’s Taxi Strategy, all hackney cabs licensed from 2020 must be at least Euro 6 emissions standard, and from 2025 only Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) will be registered.
The Electric Van Experience
The Electric Van Experience (EVE) is a unique opportunity for Nottingham-based businesses to test drive a range of electric vans.
With the Government ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles brought forward to 2030, we want to support businesses to make the switch to electric vehicles. Not only are they more environmentally friendly, but they’re cheaper to run and maintain too.
We’re offering businesses, as well as voluntary and public sector organisations, in the city the chance to try one of 50 electric vans to suit their needs, including provision of a charge point at the business premises.
Hire a bike
We are pleased to announce that CityCard cycles have returned to the streets of Nottingham. The bike hire scheme has received an upgrade since the cycles were last on our streets, so it’s now easier than ever to grab a bike and get pedalling!
