Salary: £130k – 153k depending on experience
Want to take on a new challenge to change lives in Nottingham?
Are you passionate about leading inclusive services through change?
Are you a system leader with collaboration at the heart of your work?
Nottingham is a vibrant, diverse and ambitious city. We are passionate about tackling inequalities in all we do. We are home to the “Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change”, and maintain a nationally leading position on carbon reduction with the ambition to be carbon neutral by 2028. We pioneered Early Intervention and Community Care models and maintain award winning parks, leisure and cultural facilities for the benefit of our citizens. Our transport system is celebrated nationally and internationally.
On the flip side, Nottingham is not without its challenges - we have a Recovery and Improvement Plan to help us move forward positively, in response to a recent Non-Statutory Review which identified weaknesses to be addressed, and we have embraced working with an Improvement Board which is offering support and constructive challenge. We are also one of the most deprived cities, however be in no doubt we are ambitious for our people and ambitious for our place. We are on the cusp of something exciting – a new era for Nottingham. Our new Corporate Director for Resident Services will have a critical role in leading this change.
We have an opportunity to reshape the way we deliver services in Nottingham, with a key focus on inclusivity and locality-based working. The Coronavirus Pandemic has proven to us that people are living differently and accessing council and other public services in different and creative ways. It will be your task to lead the future innovation and creativity surrounding our service delivery models, empowering and collaborating with our loyal and committed workforce and our partners.
What we’re looking for…
We are seeking an innovative and forward thinking Corporate Director for Resident Services, who is committed to making improvements to the lives of our citizens, and delivering high-quality inclusive services. A strategic collaborator, you will work with partners to align the city’s aspirations and ambitions to deliver strategic goals and promises for the people of Nottingham.
You will have a proven track record in leadership roles, and experience of driving quality and delivering better outcomes that make a difference on the ground. Highly motivated and committed, you will need to demonstrate high levels of political acumen, influencing skills and be capable of working in a fast paced core city environment.
What we can give you…
A new era for Nottingham awaits – there is a buzz of excitement about the future for us and although this will be a tough journey it will also be an extremely rewarding one too. We also have a new Chief Executive in post, and there is a clear commitment for personal development of the new Top Team of which the successful candidate will be a key part. If you can match our ambition for a Nottingham to be a world-class city for everyone, we would like to hear from you. We strive to have a workforce that reflects our city’s diversity and this is increasingly important in our decision-making senior leadership roles. To help us achieve our ambition, we particularly want to hear from experienced leaders who are female, leaders who are from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic communities, or leaders that identify with having a disability as we are under-represented in these groups at this senior level at the Council.
