Biographical details
As Portfolio Holder for Skills, Growth and Economic Development, Rebecca is responsible for city centre management, business, employment, growth and neighbourhood regeneration at Nottingham City Council. Rebecca represents Bilborough ward and has been a Councillor since 2019. From 2019-2021, Rebecca was portfolio holder for Communities, with responsibility for a range of services local people rely on. Rebecca helped to coordinate the community response to the COVID pandemic, working with officers to establish the ‘golden number’, a single point of contact for help during the pandemic and offer support to those shielding.
Rebecca has just completed her Master of Public Administration at the University of Nottingham and away from the Council works in Communications for a national charity. Prior to her election, Rebecca worked for Nottingham City Council for a number of years, supporting Councillors in their roles. Rebecca was previously the Deputy Manager of the Nottingham Refugee Forum. In this role she oversaw a range of services, including drop-in advice sessions and the Syrian Resettlement Scheme, which at the height of the 2015 refugee crisis included the largest single intake of Syrian refugees in the country. In 2013 Rebecca was awarded the Nottingham Roosevelt Scholarship, and spent time in the USA studying refugee resettlement programmes in America. She has also worked in the European Parliament.
Rebecca is chair of governors at Brocklewood School and is a company director of Nottingham City Homes and Nottingham Futures.
