Waterside - A New Sustainable Residential Community
Nottingham City Council is committed to maintaining and enhancing Nottingham as a prosperous and vibrant place in which to live, work and to visit and to ensure that new development respects and connects with surrounding communities. Development of the Waterside area (bounded by Meadow Lane/Daleside Road, Trent Lane, the River Trent, and the Nottingham & Beeston Canal) is an important element in securing our vision for the City.
To help shape development proposals for Waterside, the Council has prepared a draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which sets out the type, form, scale and density of development expected at the Waterside. The City Council’s vision for this area is to transform the area over the next 15 years into a new sustainable residential community.
Once the guidance is adopted by the Council, the SPD will be a material consideration in how planning applications for development at the Waterside are determined.
Consultation took place between 5 November 2018 and 25 January 2019. The consultation period has now closed and the Council is considering the comments received. Copies of the comments received will be made available in due course.
Details of the document are set out below.
The Council will make available all the consultation responses and consider any changes necessary to the SPD at its Executive Board meeting (the date of the meeting will be made available on the web site) before approving and adopting the document. If adopted, the SPD will be used to guide and determine any future planning applications at the Waterside. The final SPD will be made available on the Council’s website along with an Adoption Statement which will set out the date of adoption, any modifications made and the process for challenging the document.
