There are lots of new housing development underway across Nottingham, in different neighbourhoods. The Council is committed to providing a variety of homes for people at all stages of life.
Work on the Former Morley School site on the Wells Road in St Anns commenced in the summer of 2016 and will to provide 39 high quality sustainable homes comprising of 6 bungalows and 33 two and three bed homes.
In 2016 the site was given Considerate Constructors Ultrasite status, the first social housing site to receive the accolade.
The first phase of the site opened in June 2017 and named Taylor Gardens, after the former school caretaker.
37 one-bed independent living apartments are being built in Strelley, and are due to be completed in 2018.
The former Stepney Court site will be part of a development that also includes a new library with a landscaped outdoor area and improved IT facilities, an information desk for council and housing services, and meeting rooms
Winwood Heights, the two tower blocks near Woodthorpe Park, Sherwood, will provide 44 one-bed extra care apartments and will include the refurbishment of 180 apartments at Woodthorpe and Winchester Courts. Work commenced in the Summer of 2017.
The vision for Winwood Heights is that of a complete retirement village in a beautiful and unique parkland location. All homes will be highly energy efficient and fully accessible for disabled people.
Other schemes, such as Conway Close in St Anns, Oakford Close in Aspley and Hazel Hill in Bestwood Park, will provide over 50 new bungalows on sites that have been derelict for many years.
Several surplus garage sites are being developed to provide a further 22 homes, helping to meet the need for new affordable homes and to improve the quality of the built environment in these neighbourhoods.
Approval has been given for work to start soon to deliver a further 57 new homes on sites such as Knights Close in Top Valley, where a run down shopping precinct and derelict site will be transformed. Preparatory work is underway for many more planned developments.
