Blocked Driveway

Nottingham City Council has the powers under the Traffic Management Act 2004 to issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCN’s) and remove vehicles that are parked at official dropped crossings which can cause an inconvenience to residents.

These PCN’s are issued at the higher rate of £70, discounted to £35 if paid within 14 days from the fine being issued (this will be 21 days if the fine is sent by post).

The current hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:50 pm.

What will happen next

The Parking Regulation and Compliance team will receive the information you’ve provided.

On visiting your address the Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) will decide if the vehicle is contravening the restriction.

CEO’s will need to see vehicles parked over dropped crossing for up to 10 minutes depending on the size of the vehicle. If loading is observed, the vehicle will need to move after 20 minutes has lapsed.

Exemptions to the observation period may include:

  • Passengers getting in/out of a vehicle
  • Vehicles used by the fire, ambulance or police services
  • Loading and unloading to include vehicles used for bins collections, building works or road works

A doorstep interview will be carried out by the CEO to obtain all the details. The resident should be willing to attend a Court Hearing if necessary. If the resident is not prepared to do this no action can be taken. It should be noted that the officer will only visit the front door of the property.
