New Nottingham Central Library

Library changes

After successfully creating better libraries in neighbourhoods such as the Dales, Strelley, Hyson Green, St Ann’s and Bulwell, the council has committed to a new Central Library for Nottingham. This includes the best Children’s Library in the country following a public consultation. 85% of respondents said they wanted a new Central Library in the Broadmarsh area.

At the heart of the revitalised Broadmarsh area, we have the new Nottingham College City Hub, Nottingham Castle and a new-look intu Broadmarsh.
A new Central Library would help surrounding streets. It would also be close to the train station, tram and bus services, new parking facilities and improved cycle and pedestrian links.

The changes to the Broadmarsh area will return Nottingham into the top six of retail centres in the country.
In the process, this will boost the local economy, bring more jobs to the city and attract more visitors and extra spending to the city each year.

Internationally acclaimed architects with a background in library design will design the interior of Central Library. We aim to help support the vision of a high quality library to support the city’s young people now and in the future.
