Children’s Social Work: Hello my name is Tracey Nurse and I am currently the Head of Service for Children's Social Work and have over 30 years’ experience working with vulnerable children and their families. I have worked as a social worker, team manager, Project Manager for the Children across Europe project, Independent Reviewing Officer and was a Service Manager for seven years within NCC prior to taking up my current post
The social work locality service consists of 12 community based social work teams, within 3 localities (North, Central and South localities). They provide social work services to children and families in need of support and protection including those children who require safeguarding outside of their immediate birth families.
These teams hold child in need, child protection and children in care cases (until a decision for permanence has been confirmed). Once that decision has been reached, the case will transfer to one of our three Children in Care Teams or our Permanence Team, who progress cases where the permanence plan is for adoption.
Within this service we also work closely with a number of teams who provide intensive, and therapeutic family support to children and families. These include the Edge of Care Hub, Multi-Systemic Therapy teams and Safe Families for Children. All of these teams plus many others, work within a trauma informed way to create change, strengthen parenting ,reduce risk and support families, where possible to stay together.
Hello, my name is Tracy Hayden, I am the Service Manager for South locality and Pause.
The Social Work Teams I manage cover the Wollaton, Dunkirk & Bridge, St. Ann’s, Mapperley, Dales and Clifton areas of the City.
The PAUSE team supports women who have had multiple babies/children removed from their care, at a time when they are not pregnant, and they are offered intensive support in the hope that they can get on with their lives in a more positive way. This work gives the women a chance to “pause” and take control of their lives breaking a destructive cycle that causes both them and their children deep trauma.
Hi, I’m John Carter, the Service Manager for Central area.
My Social Work Teams cover Bilborough, Leen Valley, Radford, and Arboretum & Park areas of the City.
I have the pleasure of working with a strong group of Team Managers and experienced Social Workers who have a real passion for the work that they do.
My name is Nicole Harris, I am Service Manager for the North locality Social Work teams and the Contact Service.
The Social Work teams in the North cover the Bulwell, Bulwell Forest, Basford and Berridge areas of Nottingham City. The teams all work from Bulwell Riverside. The work we do is diverse and always interesting. I have an excellent group of Team Managers, Social Workers and Family Support Workers with a range of experience and skills. All four teams pull together and help each other and I am proud of the supportive culture we have created.
The Contact Service is responsible for supervising contact between our children in care and their birth families. We offer a flexible approach to make sure that the individual needs of the family are met and children are offered the chance to enjoy a positive time with their families. The Contact Workers are skilled in working with children and young people and offer contact which is supported, safe and responsive to children’s needs. This opportunity for family time is invaluable for our children in care.
