School meals at key stage one
Nottingham City Council is working with schools to promote an 'all together' approach, providing children with a valuable opportunity to spend a lunchtime with friends.
Some schools do require you to notify them of your intention to take up the scheme; it is, therefore, advisable to speak to your school directly.
Keeping you informed
As parents and carers, staying informed is essential.
Nottingham City Council has been running a series of tasting sessions at schools where parents and carers can sample the latest menus and access information on the options available and the importance of school meals.
A range of activities and events will be taking place for children in schools, including competitions and prize draws. Pupils will have the opportunity to win visits to local sporting clubs and tickets to games.
Supporting your school
It is important that all parents who receive one of the benefits listed here still register for free school meals as this will enable your child's school to claim "pupil premium allocation". The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise attainment. This additional funding for schools can help to buy new equipment and resources.
Beyond Key Stage 1
If you have children outside of Key Stage 1 then you may still be eligible for free school meals.
