Our thoughts are with the Royal Family following the passing of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

We know families may have many questions when it comes to arranging or attending a funeral in these challenging times.

Please find below some information to help to give you some clarity.

The Cemeteries Office

The office is still closed but phone lines are now open 9am to 3pm weekdays (excluding Bank Holidays).


Since Monday 30th March attendance at funerals at Nottingham City Council cemeteries and Wilford Hill Crematorium have been restricted.

The limits on attendance for the safety of visitors and staff are as follows:

Since 10 August 2020 masks for visitors in all our chapels and other buildings are mandatory. Social distancing applies at all times.

Wilford Hill Crematorium:

  • Main Chapel, maximum 30 visitors
  • West Chapel, maximum 24 visitors

Northern Cemetery:

  • Northern chapel, maximum 30 visitors

All cemeteries – attendance limited to 30 mourners per burial whilst graveside. Outdoors, masks are optional but social distancing still applies.

Disposal of cremated remains

We regret to inform you that witnessed scatterings of cremated remains are currently not possible.

Anything already booked with us and scatterings without witnesses can still take place.

Interments of cremated remains are once again available and may be booked in with a maximum of 6 attendees.
