We know families may have many questions when it comes to arranging or attending a funeral in these challenging times.

Please find below some information to help to give you some clarity.

The Cemeteries Office

The office is now open 9am to 3pm Tuesday to Thursday and the phone lines are open 9am to 3pm weekdays (excluding Bank Holidays).

Funerals

Since Monday 30th March, attendance at funerals at Nottingham City Council cemeteries and Wilford Hill Crematorium have been restricted.

Since 10 August 2020 masks for visitors in all our chapels and other buildings are mandatory. Social distancing applies at all times.

Please be aware that congregational singing in chapels is still not permitted.

From 19 July 2021 the numbers able to attend a funeral with us have changed.

The limits on attendance for the safety of visitors and staff in chapels are as follows:

Wilford Hill Crematorium

  • Main Chapel, maximum 65 visitors
  • West Chapel, maximum 45 visitors

Northern Cemetery

Northern chapel, maximum 45 visitors

All cemeteries – attendance outdoors is no longer limited. Social distancing should be maintained at all times. Masks are optional outdoors.

Disposal of Cremated Remains

Interments and scatterings of cremated remains are once again available and may be booked in with no limit on the number of attendees, provided social distancing is maintained at all times.

Please call 0115 8761922 between 9am and 3pm weekdays, or email cemeteries@nottinghamcity.gov.uk with your contact number to request we call you back to make an appointment.
