Nottingham City Council is setting next year’s budget and is asking for feedback on the proposals.
The council will need to make £15.8m of savings in 2020/21. The updated report includes the original savings of £13.4m as well as the updated proposals from February 2020 now included in the budget consultation report on page 23. The savings will be achieved by innovating, trying to do things differently and making further efficiencies – but that still doesn't leave enough to fund vital services. The growing demand to look after the elderly is now by far the biggest single cost to the council and as a result Council Tax will have to go up again.
The public are invited to have their say about specific proposals and give any general comments they may have.
