Nottingham City Council wanted to create and formally adopt a Local List for Nottingham based on an unofficial list currently held by the Nottingham Civic Society.
The list would contain buildings, archaeology and historic landscapes which are of particular local significance but do not meet the strict criteria for inclusion in the National Heritage List. A formally adopted Local List would enable the City's heritage to be carefully considered in the planning process. It would also provide a way for communities across the city to recognise and celebrate their local heritage as anyone would be able to nominate buildings, archaeology and historic landscapes to be considered for the list.
