If you have moved address, just arrived in Nottingham, or if you want your child to change schools, you can use this page to apply online.
We aim to process applications within 20 school days (approximately 4 weeks). However, when dealing with high volumes of applications, this means in some cases allocating school places can take longer especially in areas where there are very few in-year vacancies.
You can apply for up to six primary schools and up to three secondary schools. We strongly recommend that you apply for the maximum number of schools and that one of the schools on your application should be where you are sure that your child will meet one of the higher criteria for admission. The admission criteria for schools in Nottingham City are set out in the ‘Going to School in Nottingham 2018/19’ booklet in Appendices 1 and 2 below. As many of our schools are full in some or all year groups, you are also advised to contact us before making your application to find out which schools may have places available in your child’s year group.
Below is the summary guide to in-year admissions please read this carefully before completing your application.
Please do not contact us before the 20 school day period for a decision on your application.
A paper application form is also available from the School Admissions Team.
Pupils moving into the Nottingham Area
Do not apply for a Nottingham City school place too early. We aim to process applications within 20 school days and, if your child is offered a school place, we give schools 10 school days to admit the child. Therefore, you should apply for a school place no earlier than approximately 7 school weeks prior to when the school place is required.
Applications for children living outside of the UK will only be considered once the date of arrival and an address in the UK has been confirmed.
Supplementary Forms for Nottingham City Church Schools
Some schools have a supplementary form that should be completed as well as the common application form. This form can be submitted by clicking on the supplementary form link below.

Your child must continue to attend their present school until they are admitted to another school (unless they can no longer get there due to a change of area). If they do not, a referral may be made to the Education Welfare Service.
