September 2021 saw the introduction of the New EYFS Framework which has replaced the 2014 version.

This came about  following the DfE consultation on the EYFS reforms, to which the response was published in July 2020.You can download the response here: Government consultation response: EYFS Reforms.

The new EYFS statutory framework was  published and legislation laid in Parliament. This is the revised and final EYFS framework that all registered nurseries, childminders, schools and pre-schools in England will follow from 1 September 2021.

During 2020/21 some settings and schools were 'Early Adopters' developing  plans to implement the new framework from 1st September.

Since the framework was first made available there have been  a number of small amendments to section 3 safety and welfare to make existing requirements clearer and to provide updates. A summary of these amendments and why they have been made can be found here.
