This practical course will explore the many ways that adults, both in school and at home, can play a crucial role in helping develop their children into life-long readers

This session will address

  • the latest statistics on reading trends 
  • the powerful ways adults can ‘model’ the pleasure of reading
  • the development of a reading culture
  • ways of auditing and choosing suitable reading material
  • approaches to celebrating and promoting books both in school and at home
  • Inspirational ideas for sharing books
  • the importance of storytime
  • ‘Read aloud’ techniques.

Duration:  x 2 Half days with a task in between.

Delegates will receive a 'goody' bag of resources to complete the task at their setting in between sessions, the second will now also be lead by Neil Griffiths!

When we were arranging the Caught or Taught Workshops way back in February  Neil Griffiths was so booked up he could not deliver the follow up session therefore we arranged for our Early Years specialist to step in.  I am pleased to tell you that Neil has found us a date to deliver the  follow up session which was due to take place on 13th December. We will need to move the date to 12th March but I am sure you will agree that it will be worth the wait!
