Park History

Historical interpretation suggests that Broxtowe Country Park dates back before the Norman Conquest; in 1066 this site was identified as a settlement called Broculeston. In 1281 it was later recognized as Brokelstowwe coming to be known as Broxtowe in the 20th century.

Past documents show that a manor house was associated with this site before 1066 within a much larger area, but after various owners was demolished in 1937 to make way for the Broxtowe Housing Estate.

Site Management

Broxtowe Country Park is currently managed by a social enterprise organisation called NECTA. NECTA operates both as a principal and sub contractor on a variety of construction and horticulture projects for a broad base of clients across the East Midlands. It also assists with training and employment of long term unemployed and other groups.
