ImaginiNG - a vision for Nottingham in 2030
Why?
- Nottingham lacks a unified long-term vision - there are many overlapping shorter-term plans, but generally they don't present a coherent way forward
- Nottingham needs to develop a vision which is shared by everyone, and will enable us all to play an active role in building the Nottingham we aspire to
Specifically, the long-term vision will help us to:
- Inform the development of a 10-year Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS), which will shape clear, shared priority goals and activity, to ensure long-term economic and social growth
- Inform the new Local Area Agreement (LAA) which will be the 3-year delivery plan for the SCS
- Improve the image and reputation of Nottingham
How?
- One Nottingham, the city's Local Strategic Partnership, is leading this process, working with a steering group of key partners
- Local residents, children and young people, community and voluntary groups, faith sectors as well as businesses and the private sector will be engaged through a programme of 1:1 structured conversations and group meetings
- Nottingham's public will also be asked for their dreams and aspirations for the city through the local media
- All the conversations and contributions will be synthesised and combined with what is already known about Nottingham through previous surveys, consultations and our research
- The gathered information may then be used to feed into partners plans for their services, e.g. Health Service, Police, Voluntary and Community sector umbrella groups
When?
- A series of group meetings and 1:1 meetings are taking place between September and December 2007
- The results will be brought together and analysed during December 2007
- The vision for Nottingham and the Sustainable Community Strategy will be developed early in 2008
