Delivering Services Together

Clifton Cornerstone

Clifton Cornerstone opened in April 2006. It was the first of the city’s flagship Joint Service Centres and is now open in the heart of Clifton. The centre on Southchurch Drive is ideally located to offer customers easy, convenient and local access to City Council services, local GP Practices, Nottingham City Primary Care Trust clinics and Nottingham City Homes services, all from under one roof. The building’s modern, airy design is attractive and welcoming. Trained Service Advisors at the Ask here Information desk can quickly deal with enquiries. In addition, the centre offers bookable community meeting spaces.

Inside Clifton CornerstoneThe centre has a friendly community café, named Coffee City, which opened in 2006. It provides a place to relax and enjoy tasty and healthy snacks and refreshments.

What’s next for the city?

Clifton Cornerstone is one of two city Joint Service Centres being developed by GNLIFTCo as part of a 25 year public/private What's next for the city?sector partnership agreement to improve local services.

The second scheme, The Mary Potter Centre in Hyson Green, is scheduled for completion in June 2008. The Council was successful in securing PFI support of over £10 million for these schemes from the Department for Communities and Local Government through its Joint Service Centre Initiative Programme.

Following on from this success, the Council is in the early stages of developing proposals for a third ambitious Joint Service Centre regeneration scheme in Bulwell that has the initial approval of the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The partnership between the City Council, NHS and GNLIFTCo has been fundamental in the success of this vision for delivering services in this joined-up way.

How to get involved

We want to involve and engage the local community in the operation of the Clifton Cornerstone. A community advisory group called the Friends of Clifton Cornerstone was set-up June 2006. The aim of this group is to give local people an opportunity to have a say and provide feedback and comments to the manager.
