New Sure Start Children’s Centres proposed for Nottingham City
Nottingham
currently has 16 Children's Centres providing services across the city. Activities can be accessed from
both the Children's Centre itself and local community venues such as the local library or community
centre.
Nottingham City Council proposes to establish two further Children's
Centres between 2008 and 2010 in order to ensure every child under 5 years old has access to services
provided by a Children’s Centre.
To identify where Children's Centre’s are
needed, we are considering the following:
Areas with higher levels of need.
Areas
that have high numbers of children aged 5 and under.
Whether or not the area already
has a Sure Start Children's Centre that effectively reaches families in the area.
The
two areas where we propose to develop Children’s Centres are Bulwell Forest and Wollaton. These areas
meet the criteria above.
Consultation on the proposed new Sure
Start Children’s Centres in the Wollaton and Bulwell Forest area
The
consultation on the proposed Sure Start Children’s Centres for the Bulwell Forest and Wollaton areas
runs from Monday, 3 November to Monday, 1 December 2008.
