Welcome to Nottingham

Eating out and entertainment

Our city is renowned for its vibrant and exciting nightlife. We’ve something for everyone. Whether your idea of a perfect evening is a bite to eat followed by the theatre. Or a night sampling our finest wines, ales and cocktails. Or maybe you’ll want to dance the night away at one of our world-class nightclubs.

There’s no shortage of early-evening entertainment. We’ve a thriving arts and culture scene that includes theatre, dance and music. You’ll find anything from mainstream and independent art-house cinema to ballet, shows and stand-up comedy.  Enjoy modern re-developments like the canal-side Castle Wharf, and Cornerhouse, with their outdoor terraces. Or try Hockley and the Lace Market’s stylish independent bars hidden down cobbled streets. In the Old Market Square, you’ll find all the big chain pubs and late-night party bars you’d expect of a city.

After hours, our late-night offering is impeccable. If party anthems in a large capacity club are your style we certainly won’t disappoint. If you’re serious about your clubbing, look no further than Nottingham for some of the country’s most respected names in dance music.

Shopping

Retail addicts are spoilt for choice in Nottingham, rated among the top five shopping destinations in the UK.

We’re capital for fashion. In Bridlesmith Gate, you’ll find designer stores and retailers stocking the biggest names in haut couture. Alongside our impressive selection of designer outlets, we’ve got independents and small chains aplenty.  Hockley is a hot spot for alternative clothes, unusual gifts and stylish designer furnishings.

For those rainy days, we don’t fall short on undercover shopping centres – try the Victoria Centre or Broadmarsh for the big brands and Exchange Arcade or Flying Horse Walk for the more exclusive stores. We’ve also some of the biggest department stores – John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Fraser, and plenty of convenient out-of-town retail parks and outlets
