A sophisticated new journey planning service believed to be amongst the best in the UK is launched in Nottingham.

www.triptimes.co.uk

The new Triptimes system, developed in partnership between Nottingham City Council, Nottingham City Transport and NET, will provide all the details you need to make a journey.

This includes:-

  • walking information
  • which bus or tram to catch
  • interchange information, where needed.

The Triptimes web service allows people to create their own door-to-door travel plan by using addresses, bus stops, landmarks and interactive maps to work out how best to make a journey. It provides journey recommendations, which include fastest journey, journey with the least walking and the journey with least interchanges.

Other features include:

My Stop
If you know which stop you want you can click on the stop and you will get a summary list of all bus or tram departures.

Timetable Finder
If you know what service you want click on the service number and you will be provided with a bus or tram timetable.

Advanced Options
You can change the parameters of triptimes to suit your needs so if you’re a quick walker or want more time to interchange you can select these options and the journey recommendations will reflect your choices.

By text
Triptimes is available on mobile phones and there’s a virtual Triptimes trial on-line so people can try it out. Then all you need to do is follow the instructions and send your message to 84268 and wait a matter of seconds for your answer.

Printer Friendly
You can print off the journey recommendations including the map, for reference whilst on your journey

Feedback
A facility for you to comment on Triptimes so we can make continuous improvements to triptimes to ensure it is customer focussed and friendly.

In the future , it is planned that the information provided, which is currently based on timetables, will be actual journey times based on ‘real time’ satellite technology providing accurate information from buses and trams on the move.

The journey planner is part of wider improvements to electronic  passenger information by the City Council. These include ‘Info -hub’s  which compromise  journey planning touch screen kiosks , paper based interchange and service information and  electronic display boards at key interchange locations.

The new journey planner, uses nationally complient data sets used by Traveline and Transport Direct portals, it is available online at www.triptimes.co.uk
