Nottingham City Council is working hard to make sure that Nottingham
is as prepared as it can be in the event of an emergency, and it is important that you are ready too.
By being informed and prepared, you can significantly reduce the risk to life and property.
Helping yourself. Helping each other
During a crisis, strong communities are better able to cope with what
is happening around them. Please share the information contained on this website with family, friends
and neighbours who may not be able to understand it themselves or may not have access to a computer.

The Government sent a booklet ‘Preparing for Emergencies – What you
need to know’ to every home in the UK, in August 2004. The Booklet contains practical advice on the
steps you can take to help yourself and your family in the event of an emergency.
The Preparing for Emergencies website www.pfe.gov.uk
accompanies the booklet and provides online advice covering:
- Guidance on how to prepare for a variety of emergencies that
could occur
- What to do in the event of an emergency
- What the government is doing to protect the country.
Nottingham
City Council has produced a brief guide to emergency planning in the City of Nottingham.
Click here or on the front cover to download an
electronic copy of this.
Alternatively you can request a paper copy of this guide, which is also
available in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Chinese, and Farsi by contacting us, stating which
