Fire Service

The Fire Brigade is responsible for the fire-fighting and rescue operations, hazard assessment at the scene and ensuring the safety of all rescue personnel.

Ambulance Service

Ambulance crews deal with the immediate medical needs of casualties at the scene, provide transportation to treatment centres, alert hospitals and mobilise voluntary aid organisations.

Voluntary Organisations

Other Organisations

We work with a wide range of other public and private sector organisations, including neighbouring local councils and community groups, central government departments and agencies, health services, transport operators, gas, electricity, telephone and water companies, and the wider industrial and business community.  All these groups have important roles to play in planning for, and responding to major incidents.
