Nottingham City Council (Sneinton, Forest And Mapperley) Alcohol Consumption In Designated Public Places Order 2008

In July/August 2007 the City Council consulted on a proposal to introduce the above Order. However, because of a change in Government Regulations at that time and the fact that many local residents, particularly students, were away on holiday during that period, it is considered necessary to re-consult on these proposals.

If you have already given your response to the Council, it will be taken into account when the final decision is made, but if you wish to add a further response please feel free to do so. This will also be taken into account.

As stated in the previous consultation process, the City Council has been approached by the police, residents, community groups and businesses in the Forest, Mapperley, Robin Hood Chase and Sneinton areas regarding problems of harassment and nuisance due to drinking in public places. In the circumstances, the Council is considering whether to exercise its discretion under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 and make an Alcohol Consumption in Designated Public Places Order in respect of the areas shown by a bold, dotted line on the attached plans.

Before making such an Order the Council must consult with the Police, premises licence holders, club premises certificate holders, and owners/occupiers who reside or carry on business within the proposed designated area and seek their views on the proposal.

Should the proposed Order be proceeded with, it is intended that it will come into force on or around 23 May 2008.
