CELEBRATING ART AND CRAFT IN THE EAST MIDLANDS

11 October - 2 November 2008

New Art Exchnage Logo

This exciting exhibition includes the work of both emerging and established artists and makers based in the East Midlands (working in all media), and is a celebration of the creativity practised in the region.

This year the works have been selected by the nationally-acclaimed artist Sutapa Biswas and Joanne Bushnell, Director of Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth, whose own open exhibition Emergency, has brought many 'early career' artists to wider attention. They were given the remit to choose a body of work that represents diversity among the region's creative practitioners and up to 100 works of art and craft are on display.Open Exhibition entrant 2008

With up to 10,000 visitors each year, the Open exhibition is a popular fixture in the diaries of both serious collectors and first-time buyers. And investing in artistic stars of the future is made easy at Nottingham Castle, through ‘Own Art’, a scheme operated by Arts Council England that offers interest free credit for works individually or collectively priced between £100 and £2,000.

With works on display that cover painting, photography, glass, jewellery and more, it will be easy for visitors to see the plentiful opportunities for unique and exciting purchases - or even Christmas gifts.
