Accessing the material
The main Local Studies Collection is housed in a separate area of the 4th Floor of the Central Library accessible to staff only.
Some materials are available for loan, but most of the stock is for use in the library only.
Much of the collection - including all loanable material - is listed on the Library Catalogue NELIB however a significant proportion of the stock is currently only recorded in card catalogues on site.
In addition, because of the nature of some of the materials (e.g. newspaper cuttings, photographs, ephemera), many items are not individually catalogued but are filed according to their subject category.
For further information, please contact the Local Studies Library or ask staff at the Enquiry Desk on Floor 4 for help in finding what you want.
