You may already know that the library has all kinds of music on CD that you can borrow, from classical to jazz, folk and pop.
If you are interested in films and TV you may have discovered our selection of videos and DVDs, from the latest Tarantino to Inspector Morse, keep fit or natural history.
BUT PERHAPS YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT THE LIBRARY ALSO PROVIDES...
Resources for people with a visual impairment
• Large print books Fiction and non-fiction by a wide range of authors.
• Stories on tape We have many popular titles, including novels,biographies and non fiction. CDs are also available at some libraries.

An Information service
The library staff can help with answers to a huge range of queries from our reference books and the internet, whether it is about hobbies and interests, travel, or pensions. You can ask in your local library, ring them up or use our on-line enquiry service.
There are special health information collections in some libraries, with books, leaflets and our recommended websites.
Computers to use FREE of charge

• Use Microsoft Office for letters, accounts etc
• Use the Internet for information, booking holidays, online shopping
If you need help to get started, book a One2One computer help session. Library staff offer short sessions, free of charge, to help you learn the basics such as using a mouse, word processing and using email.
Resources for research in Family History
There are a wide range of resources at Central Library for people researching their family history. Local libraries also offer access to useful websites for internet research. FREE One2One computer help sessions are available to help you learn the basics of internet searching.
The Picture the Past website contains thousands of old photographs from around the city and the county. Why not look to find places you remember from the past?
A Service for people with restricted mobility
If you are unable to visit your local library because you have restricted mobility, the library service, in partnership with the WRVS operates a home delivery service. Please get in touch with your local library to find out more.
A service for Residential Homes
The Library Service delivers regular collections of books and other materials to homes and sheltered accommodation. There is an annual fee for this service. Please contact your local library for more information.
What else is there?
• Several city libraries have their own reading groups, so please get in touch if you would like to join an informal group to discuss some good reads
• There are library clubs once a month to join as well. Please check at your local library for one near you. Come along and listen to speakers on a range of interesting topics, have a chat and meet new people.
What does it cost?
Many of our services are completely free
• Joining the library

• Loan of books, large print and spoken word
• People over 60 are not charged fines for overdue items
There are small charges for the weekly rental of music CDs , videos and DVDs
Reserving a book also has a small charge.
Don’t forget you can activate your CITYCARD for use as a library membership card as well. Just ask at your local library.
