Overdue items
The following scale of fines applies to books, spoken word recordings and language courses returned on or after 7th April 2008 which are retained after the normal loan period: 10p per item per day overdue (for the first three weeks) and 15p per item per day overdue (for the following weeks). There is a maximum overdue fine of £5.40
A charge will also be made for the posting of overdue reminders.
Exemptions: People aged under 16 or over 60, people with disabilities, home library services users, asylum seekers and children looked after
Please note: music CDs, tapes, DVDs, videos, records and CD-ROMs retained after the normal loan period will incur a repeat rental charge for each week that they are retained.
Reservations
There is a standard charge of 25p per specific title, payable at the time the request is placed. Items supplied by the British Library (via inter-library loans) will cost an extra £3.00 per item.
Exemptions: People aged under 16, home library service users, and children looked after.
Use of public computers
6 hours per week of computer use is FREE to all City/County library members. Non members pay a charge of £1.50 per half hour.
Printing costs 10p per A4 page on a black printer, and 30p per A4 page on a colour printer; in libraries without a choice of printers, the charge is 10p per A4 page.
DISCOUNT: 50% discount on printing charges for people aged under 16.

Languages courses
There is a standard charge of £1.00, irrespective of the number of items in the set. Language courses are issued for 6 weeks at a time. Books which are accompanied by a single cassette are not charged for. ESOL courses are not charged for.

Replacement of lost computerised book issue cards
The replacement charge is £1.00.
The replacement charge for an Adult Citycard (combining travel, leisure centre and library use on one card) is £2.00.
